For years the annual membership drive served as the primary source of support to carry the Historic Site through quiet winter seasons. Though winter is busier now, this event still plays a crucial role in providing essential funding to care for and maintain our valued grounds, gardens, and buildings.
Many members note this is a favorite BHA tradition. This is an open house event FREE to the community that welcomes new members and volunteers. Every historic building on the grounds will be open for hands-on exploration, learning, and discovery. Best of all, it’s for everyone – adults and kids alike!
Refreshments will be thoughtfully prepared by local businesses and generous volunteers. Helping hands and food sponsors are always needed and so if you are interested in volunteering or sponsoring, please call 252-728-5225.
Remember the RSVP so we know how many to expect! Invite friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, or anyone curious to learn more about the Historical Association. We offer a wide range of activities and events year-round with membership options beginning at just $25 for students and seniors, extending to the $5,000 Somerset Circle level. Each tier offers its own benefits. New memberships may be purchased at the Valentine Party or online at beauforthistoricsite.org under the shop tab.
For more information about the Valentine Party, new memberships, or membership renewal, stop by the Welcome Center at 130 Turner Street, or call us at 252-728-5225.

Valentine Party Featured Artist Information:

Annie Kinney Villa is the Featured Artist for the Valentine Party. Her exhibition will be on view in the Mattie King Davis Art Gallery from February through the end of March 2026. Annie grew up along the western seacoast of Ireland, in a remote region known as the Burren. After traveling in her twenties, she settled in North Carolina, where she fell in love with the area’s seasonal weather, pristine beaches, and rugged mountains. During the pandemic, she transitioned from painting occasionally to working as a full-time artist. She is primarily self-taught and continues to explore the creative process through workshops and connections with other artists.
