The BHA will host a Pop-Up Gallery for Plein Air New Bern, an up-and-coming non-profit that cultivates artistry based upon the landscapes of Craven, Pamlico, and Carteret Counties. Every spring, thirty-five artists from around the world come to the area and paint competitively “plein-air”, that is, in the “open air”.
On May 18th, Plein Air’s featured artists will make their way down to Beaufort with blank canvases in hand to paint local scenes in and around the area. Spectators will be welcomed to travel out and view the artists at work by tracking their location on an app and seeing their real-time whereabouts throughout the day. At the end of the day’s painting period, a pop-up gallery will be hosted on the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site from 4-6pm, and will offer paintings for purchase which were created earlier that day.
To see which artists will be featured in the festival this year or for more information on Plein Air New Bern, visit their website at www.ncpleinair.org. To hear more about the Pop-Up event in Beaufort, call the Beaufort Historic Site at (252) 728-5225.
