  • North Carolina Plein Air Art Festival — Beaufort

    Live Painting • Gallery Sales • Artist Reception Beaufort Historic Site, 130 Turner Street, Beaufort, NC Beaufort Historic Site is proud to host the North Carolina Plein Air Art Festival for two days of live outdoor painting and gallery exhibitions. On May 14 and 15, jury-selected artists from across the country and around the world will paint on location throughout Beaufort, transforming the town into an open-air studio.   Live Painting Throughout the Day Artists will be actively painting across Beaufort’s waterfront, docks, historic district, and scenic coastal locations. Visitors are invited to watch works develop in real time and engage with artists as they paint. A list of participating artists with preview samples of their past work is available on the ncpleinair.org home page. To help visitors find artists in the field, the festival uses the En Plein Air Artist Locator, a mobile app that shows real-time artist locations during painting hours.     The Beaufort Historic Site is proud to present an inspiring exhibition by acclaimed artist Nicole White Kennedy in the Mattie King Davis Gallery! The Opening Reception (free) will be Sunday, May 31st from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, and the exhibition will be on view through July 23 as part of the Old Homes & More Tour and Summer Party season. About the ArtistA Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society and Oil Painters of America, and an exhibiting artist at the Salmagundi Art Club, Nicole’s work is celebrated nationally for its expressive, narrative-driven style. Nicole’s passion for art has been a lifelong journey, beginning with her early work creating TV storyboards, an experience that continues to shape the storytelling quality of her paintings today. Growing up in a family of restaurateurs, she developed a natural instinct for observing people, capturing their character and interactions with a distinctive narrative flair.     An Artist at Work: Gary Bradley at the Beaufort Historic Site

    We are excited to welcome newly juried artist Gary Bradley to the Beaufort Historic Site this Saturday, August 29, from 10:00am until 1:00pm!   Gary will be joining us on the grounds to paint and create a brand new work of art inspired by his time here in historic Beaufort. Gary’s artwork has already been a hit, as he recently sold two pieces at our Mattie King Davis Art Gallery and is returning to replenish the gallery with even more beautiful work.   But there’s an extra special treat! Gary will be painting on-site and then giving the finished painting away through a drawing to one lucky registered participant!   Come by the Beaufort Historic Site on Saturday, from 10:00am until 1:00pm, and watch an artist at work, and enjoy the chance to take home an original piece of art created right here at the Historic Site!
