Start Your Beaufort Historic Site Experience
The Robert W. and Elva Faison Safrit Historical Center on Turner Street is the starting point for most visits to the Beaufort Historic Site. It also serves as the official Visitors Center for the Town of Beaufort, making it a useful first stop whether you’re here for the history or just figuring out where to eat.
The Robert W. & Elva Faison Safrit Historical Center
Located at 130 Turner Street on the Beaufort Historic Site, the Safrit Historical Center is part of the town’s National Register Historic District. Staff and volunteers are on hand to answer questions about the site, local dining, lodging, and the best ways to explore Beaufort and the surrounding islands.

January through March:

Take Home a Piece of Beaufort
The Old Beaufort Shop, located inside the Safrit Historical Center, carries gifts, books, souvenirs, and handmade items from local artisans. The selection runs from toys, crafts, and jewelry to pirate attire and colonial dress. The Shop also sells handwoven items created on site by the Warped Weavers. All proceeds go directly toward preservation and education programs at the Beaufort Historical Association.
