Join us for an Artist Talk with our Featured Gallery Artist BF Reed, April 25th from 11:00am to 12:00pm in the Beaufort Historic Site Welcome Center at 130 Turner Street, Beaufort, NC. Coffee and refreshments will be available as Reed will present an engaging artist talk and live demonstration focused on the pastel medium. She will begin with a brief overview of pastel - its history, unique qualities, and why it remains a powerful and often misunderstood fine art medium. The demonstration will follow, offering insight into her personal process, including surface preparation, layering techniques, and the development of light and form. Visitors will have the opportunity to see how a painting evolves in real time and to ask questions throughout the session. On Saturday, August 1, from 12:00pm – 1:00pm, Watermark Books will host Sarah and Austin McCombie of the musical duo Chatham Rabbits for a free, family-friendly program on the Beaufort Historic Site grounds. During the event, Sarah and Austin will perform "Abigail," and they will discuss their children's book, Abigail and the Journey of a Pack Horse Librarian, which includes discussion of the Pack Horse Library Project in Appalachia during the early 1900s, along with other educational themes that make the presentation engaging for children and adults alike.
