  • Volunteer Training Day (NOW FULL)

    This training is now full, but we offer training year around! Give us a call at 252-728-5225 to sign up today! Join the Beaufort Historic Site for a FREE Volunteer Training Day. Volunteer training is offered year-round, but this training on April 29 from 10am-2pm will allow you to explore more of the Historic Site Buildings and beyond! Sign up today!   • Volunteer Picnic

    The Semi-Annual Membership Meeting will be held on the grounds of The Beaufort Historic Site. A picnic with all the trimmings is featured for all those who volunteer or those who want to know more about volunteering for the Beaufort Historical Association and its many events and activities. The event is FREE to the general public, but please RSVP by September 10 by calling 252-728-5225, or stop in at the Beaufort Historic Site Welcome Center, 130 Turner St.   All Beaufort Historic Site events are subject to change. Please bring a mask.

  • Volunteer Training

    Attendees are invited to learn about volunteering at the Beaufort Historic Site, 130 Turner St. Anyone interested in historic preservation and research, student educational programs, driving a double-decker bus, leading tours, retail sales in the gift shop or helping with the many committees that are the backbone of the Association are welcome to attend. Lunch is included. Please RSVP by February 28. For more information, please call 252-728-5225.  All events are subject to change.

  • Volunteer Training

    Our volunteers play an integral part in the programs and functions that take place at the Beaufort Historic Site. Without these volunteers, many of our events would not be possible. We love welcoming eager and positive additions to the volunteer family. This year, the one-day Volunteer Training Program will be on Tuesday, March 9 from 9 – 4 p.m. at the Historic Site.  Anyone interested in either volunteering occasionally or on a regular basis will have the chance to learn about more than 20 volunteer opportunities available at the training session. We will also provide a delicious lunch. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the buildings, ride the double-decker bus, tour the Old Burying Ground, and see how volunteer docents work with the many visitors who come to the site. During lunch, prospective volunteers will have an opportunity to meet the BHA staff, hear about the many ways to help and ask questions to better understand the vital role volunteers play in the daily functions of the BHA. New volunteers are invited to learn about Beaufort’s colorful history while discovering the perfect volunteer opportunity with the BHA.   • Living History – Weavers Day

    Come to the Beaufort Historic Site and watch the Warped Weavers demonstrate how a barn-frame loom works. The volunteer group has been volunteering on our grounds for 40 years producing beautiful rugs, shawls, tea towels, placemats, and more which can be purchased in the Old Beaufort Shop. Space is limited to 8 people so please call 252-728-5225 to reserve your spot.

  • Living History – A Morning with Master Gardeners

    Come to the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site and spend the morning with the Master Gardeners of Carteret County. They will teach about propagation, give a tour of the three gardens they maintain at the Site, and answer any of your gardening questions. This is a free event.

  • Old Homes Tour Kickoff Party & Bartenders’ Challenge

    Come to the Beaufort Historic Site for a fun-filled evening to kickoff the annual Old Homes Tour! This party features the popular local Bartenders' Challenge as well as a preview of the art show for the Old Homes Tour featured artist Larry Dean.     Living History – American Flag Retirement Ceremony

    Witness the retirement of an American Flag in a ceremonial burning on the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site. It may come as a surprise to learn that this is one of the proper methods of retiring your tattered or damaged flags. This free event is led by Doug Cawman.

  • 62nd Annual Beaufort NC Old Homes Tour

      It's the 62nd annual walking tour of private homes, gardens, churches, and historic places in Beaufort! In addition to the amazing historic homes open to the public, ticket holders will also be able to tour the Beaufort Historic Site buildings, the Old Burying Ground, and join the charming narrated bus tours of the historic district. Don't miss the Old Homes Tour featured artist, Larry Dean, in the Mattie King Davis Art Gallery!   • Living History – Adult Pine Needle Workshop

    Learn how to make pine needle baskets, a skill dating back almost 9,000 years ago. Baskets served as vessels for grain, crops, and other essentials. Be sure to bring a bag lunch with you.
