  • 64th Beaufort Old Homes Tour

    Experience the charm of Historic Beaufort during the 64th Annual Old Homes Tour, a beloved tradition happening the last full weekend in June! This self-guided walking tour invites you to explore a mix of private homes, gorgeous gardens, historic churches, and landmarks that span centuries of coastal history. Visitors now can enjoy exploring the historic homes with all their warmth and character while also visiting contemporary homes with their amazing innovative designs. The tour captures the Southern Hospitality of Beaufort, honoring its history while also showcasing the future as new generations call it home.   • Membership Drive Valentine Party

    For years the annual membership drive served as the primary source of support to carry the Historic Site through quiet winter seasons. Though winter is busier now, this event still plays a crucial role in providing essential funding to care for and maintain our valued grounds, gardens, and buildings. Many members note this is a favorite BHA tradition. This is an open house event FREE to the community that welcomes new members and volunteers. Every historic building on the grounds will be open for hands-on exploration, learning, and discovery. Best of all, it’s for everyone – adults and kids alike! Refreshments will be thoughtfully prepared by local businesses and generous volunteers. Helping hands and food sponsors are always needed and so if you are interested in volunteering or sponsoring, please call 252-728-5225. Remember the RSVP so we know how many to expect!   • Carteret County Arts & Crafts Coalition’s Biannual Arts & Crafts Show and Sale!

    The Carteret County Arts & Crafts Coalition’s Biannual Arts & Crafts Show and Sale will take place at the Beaufort Historic Site at 130 Turner Street, Beaufort, NC, on Memorial Day weekend, May 23 and 24, from 10:00am to 5:00pm.   Free, family-friendly, and held at the Beaufort Historic Site, the Carteret County Arts & Crafts Coalition’s Memorial Day Show and Sale is the perfect way to celebrate the holiday weekend! Come out to meet local artists & crafters, & purchase handmade, local goods.   The Arts & Crafts Coalition was established in 1978 by a group of professionally oriented artists and craftsmen. Currently, membership is juried. The Spring and Fall shows have been held on the Beaufort Historic Site grounds since 1981.   • Seadogs Legacy Celebration!

    To commemorate the opening of the newly restored and repurposed Mulberry Site Condominium Homes and the Mainsail Event Center, the Beaufort Historical Association is hosting a reception celebration for the community on Saturday, June 27 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm in The Mainsail (old gym). This special heritage event will honor town residents who were students at the former campus or taught and administrated there. We will celebrate the old high school era Seadogs spirit that cheered on their basketball team through 91 straight wins in the 1950s and 1960s, whose record still stands as the “winningest” boys basketball team in North Carolina history! No ticket required. All curious to see the renovated gym complete with Seadogs memorabilia, decor and legacy trophies from bygone days are invited to attend the reception.

    As part of BHA’s America 250, 1776 - 2026 celebrations, we’re hosting a FREE community gathering for kids and adults where the past meets the present! A DJ will entertain with pop hits of today and host short historical activities from the past throughout the event, featuring colonial dress-up/photo booth, face painting, 1700s dancing, a cookie and cakewalk, ice cream, hot dogs, popcorn, colonial games and more! Food trucks will be on the Historic Site for eats, and beer, wine and soft drinks will also be available for purchase. This is a family-friendly event on the lawn! NOTE: BRINGING PERSONAL ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND/OR COOLERS, SPARKLERS, FIRECRACKERS OR OTHER FIREWORKS ON SITE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED. Do bring your camp chairs or blankets and have fun with history! July 3rd from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on the Beaufort Historic Site grounds. *We need volunteers to help with crowd control, facilitate historical activities, and wear 1700s clothing.     Chatham Rabbits Music & Book Discussion!

    On Saturday, August 1, from 12:00pm – 1:00pm, Watermark Books will host Sarah and Austin McCombie of the musical duo Chatham Rabbits for a free, family-friendly program on the Beaufort Historic Site grounds. During the event, Sarah and Austin will perform "Abigail," and they will discuss their children's book, Abigail and the Journey of a Pack Horse Librarian, which includes discussion of the Pack Horse Library Project in Appalachia during the early 1900s, along with other educational themes that make the presentation engaging for children and adults alike. We expect it to be a fun and meaningful event for all ages!

    Volunteer Picnic!

    The BHA will host the Annual Volunteer Picnic at 5:30pm on the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site at 130 Turner Street.  Fat Fellas will be catering our picnic again with a traditional menu of fried chicken, BBQ and all the sides. We’ll have plenty of water, iced tea, wine and beer. This picnic is our way of saying THANK YOU to volunteers who generously dedicate time and talents to the BHA. Without the support of volunteers, the BHA and the Beaufort Historic Site could not present the area’s treasured heritage in such entertaining and informative detail.
