Members and prospective members are invited to join the Beaufort Historical Association for the Annual Membership Meeting and potluck dinner, Tuesday, January 21, at 6 pm at St. Paul’s Church, 215 Ann Street. This year’s meeting will feature a special program by Dr. Stan Rule about his research efforts to uncover and preserve the history of cabins, cabin life, and the owners/families who lived on the Southern Outer Banks as it relates to Beaufort families. As a retired pediatrician, local historian, and a new member of the BHA Board of Governors, Stan is dedicated to preserving the personal stories and memories of those who once lived on Core Banks, particularly in relation to the cabins and camps that were lost when the Cape Lookout National Seashore was established.
After the program, awards will be presented to our volunteers for 2024. Since 1986, volunteer awards have been presented to individuals who have truly made the BHA the success it is today. The Association is blessed with hundreds of generous people who give their time and talents. Nominations are being accepted and submissions can be made by contacting the BHA at 130 Turner Street, Beaufort. Nominations can also be made over the phone by calling 252-728-5225 or by emailing officemanager@beauforthistoricsite.org.
