January Membership Meeting & Volunteer of the Year Awards

The January Membership meeting was a wonderful event! This year members, volunteers and prospective members gathered at the Ann Street Methodist Church Eure Building for an evening together learning about Beaufort, sharing a meal and honoring the wonderful Beaufort Historical Association volunteers. After a wonderful presentation of historic Beaufort photos from Chris Sabiston the Volunteer of the Year awards were presented.
The Edward and Frances Piver Volunteer of the Year Award for the person who has consistently given time on a regular basis to the BHA and who can be counted on to give 110% in accomplishing any task was awarded to Margaret Brock for her energy and efforts on many BHA committees including the Old Homes Tour and Valentine Party committees as well as her graciousness in often providing food and floral arrangements for our many events. Thank you Margaret for all of your hard work!
The Fundraiser Award for the person who does an outstanding job of raising funds for the BHA’s many needs was given to Cecil Harvell for his generous contribution to the 2016 Summer Party in the form of four tickets to the Broadway Show Hamilton. Thank you Cecil for your generous contribution and helping make one of the BHA’s greatest events a huge success in 2016.
The Longevity Award was presented to a long-time volunteer who has devoted time over many years and provided unselfish assistance to the BHA in a variety of ways. This year’s Longevity volunteer award went to Pam Cooper, who has been volunteering with the BHA since 1991. Her dedication and service has helped shape many programs and events at the BHA. Thank you Pam for your many years of hard work.
The Couples Award goes to an energetic pair who double their fun by donating their expertise and enthusiasm resulting in twice as much service for the BHA. This year’s couples award went to Heidi and Doug Cawman for their excitement and service to The Double Decker Bus, volunteering at the Candlelight Tour, serving on the Education Committee and so much more. Thank you to teh Cawmans for being part of our team!
The Newcomer Award is for the “rookie” who has made a meaningful contribution in a relatively short time as a member. Robin Hunt was the perfect fit for this award as she jumped in with both feet in 2016 with Summer Camp, Living History Programs and even making her own colonial wear for events. Thank you Robin for being a dedicated volunteer that we has so quickly become an important part of the BHA.
