As part of the Beaufort Historical Association’s Living History series, Mary Ellen Clement will conduct a Knotless Netting Demonstration in the Beaufort Historical Association Welcome Center at 130 Turner Street on Saturday, August 22nd from 1:00-3:00 pm. Knotless netting creations have become an increasingly popular crafting art form used in a variety of ways.
Knotless netting is an ancient textile technique of looping to create a form without using knots. This technique can be an artistic craft or a technique used to make a useful object. Once the technique is learned, the creative and useful possibilities are endless. The technique can be used to cover beach stones or glass, to make pendant jewelry, Christmas ornaments, cover bottles or pottery, create bags, baskets, garment coverings, nets and more.
