The Mattie King Davis Art Gallery will host a reception for Jamison Ipock’s art show on Saturday, April 6 from 5:00-7:00 pm. Located on the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site at 130 Turner Street, Carteret County’s oldest art gallery will feature the beautiful works of Jamison Ipock from April through May.

A Beaufort native, Mrs. Ipock often creates paintings from moments or memories she has cherished. Many of those are the coastal scenes that surround her. As she puts it, “Carteret County is such a beautiful place. I just want to capture that beauty on canvas and save the moment.”

She does just that, bringing her paintings to life with her use of color and light. Not afraid to experiment in different techniques and paints, she uses a variety of methods to express her views on canvas.

After a 27-year career as a science teacher and administrator, Jamison retired and had more time to paint saying, “I have always been interested in art, but I never actually had the time or energy to paint until I retired.”

Mrs. Ipock has recently offered her work for sale again after a three-year public hiatus in which she studied different techniques for her art and painted for herself and her family. Her many fans will welcome the chance to see her gorgeous oil paintings once again. She says one of the best things about getting back in the art field is meeting and learning from so many wonderful artists in Carteret County.
