DESCRIPTION:The Beaufort Historic Site will host the North Carolina Plein Air Beaufort Pop-up Show and Sale on Wednesday\, May 15th and Friday\, May 17th from 4 to 6 pm. North Carolina Plein Air is a non-profit arts organization that brings together world-class juried artists from across the globe to paint throughout Beaufort with a “wet” paint sale following both days. Many paintings created during the event center around Beaufort’s outdoor landscapes and have in the past featured surrounding marshes\, the waterfront\, downtown architecture\, and streets lined with historic homes. This year marks the fourth occurrence of this event\, which is rapidly establishing itself as a prominent feature in the art scene of North Carolina. SUMMARY:Working with Clay Class
DESCRIPTION:Clay utilitarian vessels are part of the earliest times in recorded history\, including the Bible. In this 3-hour workshop\, a variety of hand-building techniques will be used to create 2-3 pieces. They will dry slowly\, then bisque fired. The instructor\, Mary Kathryne Cooper is a retired art teacher who has recently moved to Beaufort. She wants to inspire others to learn this craft. DESCRIPTION:Come join us for a morning of visiting with our Master Gardener Volunteers of Carteret County! They will be on our grounds teaching about propagation and then giving a tour of the three gardens they maintain for us here. On the Beaufort Historic Site\, we have a Leffer’s Garden that demonstrates different kinds of foods and flowers from the colonial times.
