SUMMARY:Living History - Barn Quilt Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Make your own barn quilt! It’s a large piece of painted wood that looks like a single quilt block and decorates the side of a barn or building. Our barn quilts will measure 24″x24″ and you’ll take home your finished product. This workshop is led by Donna Haggerty and has a materials fee of $75. There is a limit of 6 people so please call 252-728-5225 to reserve your spot.

SUMMARY:Plein-Air New Bern's Beaufort Pop-Up
DESCRIPTION:The BHA will host a Pop-Up Gallery for Plein Air New Bern\, an up-and-coming non-profit that cultivates artistry based upon the landscapes of Craven\, Pamlico\, and Carteret Counties. Every spring\, thirty-five artists from around the world come to the area and paint competitively “plein-air”\, that is\, in the “open air”. \nOn May 18th\, Plein Air’s featured artists will make their way down to Beaufort with blank canvases in hand to paint local scenes in and around the area. Spectators will be welcomed to travel out and view the artists at work by tracking their location on an app and seeing their real-time whereabouts throughout the day. At the end of the day’s painting period\, a pop-up gallery will be hosted on the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site from 4-6pm\, and will offer paintings for purchase which were created earlier that day. \nTo see which artists will be featured in the festival this year or for more information on Plein Air New Bern\, visit their website at www.ncpleinair.org. DESCRIPTION:Come to the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site and spend the morning with the Master Gardeners of Carteret County. They will teach about propagation\, give a tour of the three gardens they maintain at the Site\, and answer any of your gardening questions. This is a free event.
