DESCRIPTION:The Mattie King Davis Art Gallery at the Beaufort Historic Site welcomes artist Lynda Harris for a show on April 7\, 2023 from 4:30 – 6 p.m. Harris\, no stranger to the gallery\, has been an active member\, featured as an Old Homes Tour artist\, and held her own show in 2020. Harris is the gallery’s featured artist for April and May as well as the 2023 Old Homes Tour featured artist. Her art for this show reflects her new-found love of Beaufort and Eastern North Carolina. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, April 15 from 9 – 4 p.m.\, The Beaufort Historic Site will kick off the spring season with the annual Publick Day event on the grounds at 130 Turner Street. The Site will transform into an open-air marketplace\, welcoming visitors to explore the vast array of goods and items for sale from various vendors. \n“Publick Times” dates back to the Colonial period and is fashioned after Williamsburg of the 1700s when the General Court was in session. “Publick Times” gave visitors an opportunity to come to town to see and be seen\, conduct court business\, shop\, gossip\, dine and dance.  Guests who attend Publick Day can expect to find a variety of vendors selling antiques\, vintage finds\, collectibles\, crafts and more. \nVendor space is available.  Applications are being accepted to rent a 10’ x 10’ space for $35 if you are a BHA member and $50 for non-members. Space is first-come\, first served\, and the event is held rain or shine. Spaces are non-refundable. Vendors must supply their own tables and tent if needed. SUMMARY:Living History - Weavers Day
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Beaufort Historic Site and watch the Warped Weavers demonstrate how a barn-frame loom works. The volunteer group has been volunteering on our grounds for 40 years producing beautiful rugs\, shawls\, tea towels\, placemats\, and more which can be purchased in the Old Beaufort Shop. Space is limited to 8 people so please call 252-728-5225 to reserve your spot.
