SUMMARY:Membership Drive Valentine Party
DESCRIPTION:For years the annual membership drive served as the primary source of support to carry the Historic Site through quiet winter seasons. Though winter is busier now\, this event still plays a crucial role in providing essential funding to care for and maintain our valued grounds\, gardens\, and buildings. \nMany members note this is a favorite BHA tradition. This is an open house event FREE to the community that welcomes new members and volunteers. Every historic building on the grounds will be open for hands-on exploration\, learning\, and discovery. Best of all\, it’s for everyone – adults and kids alike! \nRefreshments will be thoughtfully prepared by local businesses and generous volunteers. Helping hands and food sponsors are always needed and so if you are interested in volunteering or sponsoring\, please call 252-728-5225. \nRemember the RSVP so we know how many to expect! Invite friends\, family\, coworkers\, neighbors\, or anyone curious to learn more about the Historical Association. We offer a wide range of activities and events year-round with membership options beginning at just $25 for students and seniors\, extending to the $5\,000 Somerset Circle level. Each tier offers its own benefits. New memberships may be purchased at the Valentine Party or online at beauforthistoricsite.org under the shop tab. \nFor more information about the Valentine Party\, new memberships\, or membership renewal\, stop by the Welcome Center at 130 Turner Street\, or call us at 252-728-5225. \n2026 Membership Drive Valentine Party Invitation \n\nThis year\, the organization is moving toward more paperless correspondence in an effort to be more environmentally friendly. Guests are strongly encouraged to RSVP using the form below and to include their name and the total number of guests in their group. \nIf assistance is needed for your RSVP\, please contact the Beaufort Historic Site Welcome Center at 252-728-5225. \nClick here to fill out the Valentine Party RSVP form\n\nValentine Party Featured Artist Information:\n \nAnnie Kinney Villa is the Featured Artist for the Valentine Party. Her exhibition will be on view in the Mattie King Davis Art Gallery from February through the end of March 2026. Annie grew up along the western seacoast of Ireland\, in a remote region known as the Burren. After traveling in her twenties\, she settled in North Carolina\, where she fell in love with the area’s seasonal weather\, pristine beaches\, and rugged mountains. During the pandemic\, she transitioned from painting occasionally to working as a full-time artist. She is primarily self-taught and continues to explore the creative process through workshops and connections with other artists. \nDiscover more about Annie Kinney Villa and view other artwork on her website: https://www.anniekinney.com/

SUMMARY:Annual Membership Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Members and prospective members are invited to join the Beaufort Historical Association for the Annual Membership Meeting and potluck dinner\, Tuesday\, January 21\, at 6 pm at St. Paul’s Church\, 215 Ann Street. This year’s meeting will feature a special program by Dr. Stan Rule about his research efforts to uncover and preserve the history of cabins\, cabin life\, and the owners/families who lived on the Southern Outer Banks as it relates to Beaufort families. Since 1986\, volunteer awards have been presented to individuals who have truly made the BHA the success it is today. The Association is blessed with hundreds of generous people who give their time and talents. Nominations are being accepted and submissions can be made by contacting the BHA at 130 Turner Street\, Beaufort. Nominations can also be made over the phone by calling 252-728-5225 or by emailing officemanager@beauforthistoricsite.org.

SUMMARY:January Membership Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Members and prospective ones are invited to join the Beaufort Historical Association for the Annual Membership Meeting and potluck dinner on January 21\, 6 p.m.\, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 215 Ann Street in Beaufort. The meeting is a perfect opportunity to make friends with fellow members and new ones while enjoying a delicious meal. \nDuring the meeting\, there will be a special presentation of the film Beaufort Remembers\, a Scrapbook Productions\, Inc. and Beaufort Documentary Group film about the daily life of Beaufort from the 1920s to the 1960s\, told in the voices of those who lived it. \n“The premiere of the documentary in December was a huge success bringing the whole community together in celebration of Beaufort’s past\,” BHA Executive Director Patricia Suggs said. The event was completely sold out\, so this gives our members a chance to see a portion of the film.” \nThe 2019 Volunteer Awards will also be presented. The BHA will present the prestigious Edward and Frances Piver Volunteer of the Year Award to the outstanding volunteer of the year. This award was established in 1968 by the Piver children to honor their parents. \nThe selected recipients of the Piver award are a group that has excelled above their commitment to the BHA and have been leading figures in its success. The Association is fortunate to have volunteers who give their time and talents in a variety of ways from guided tours\, driving the double-decker bus\, serving on committees\, answering phones\, helping with events\, and more. \nThe Newcomer\, Longevity\, Couples\, and Fundraiser awards will also be presented. The Newcomer is for the “rookie” who has made a meaningful contribution in a relatively short time as a member.  The Longevity is presented to a long-time volunteer who has devoted time over many years and provided unselfish assistance to the BHA in a variety of ways. The Fundraiser is for the person who does an outstanding job of raising funds for the BHA’s many needs. This fundraising may be a part of an event\, for an individual project\, or for a continued generation of funds over the years. Lastly\, the Couples award goes to an energetic pair who doubles their fun by donating their expertise and enthusiasm resulting in twice as much service to the BHA. \nNominations are now being accepted and submissions can be made by cutting out and mailing in your ballot to the Beaufort Historical Association at 150 Turner Street\, Beaufort\, NC 28516.  The ballot can be downloaded online at www.beauforthistoricsite.org. You may also call 252-728-5225 or email officemanager@beauforthistoricsite.org to submit a nomination. \nFor additional information on the Membership Meeting\, stop by the Visitors Center at 130 Turner Street\, call 252-728-5225\, or visit beauforthistoricsite.org. \n  \nDOWNLOAD VOLUNTEER AWARDS BALLOT
