Kick-off the holiday season in beautiful historic Beaufort, NC. Start your afternoon by taking a stroll around town meeting talented artists and buying those perfect holiday gifts during The Beaufort Art Walk. Then later that night join the Beaufort Historical Association for our annual Christmas Candlelight Tour and visit gorgeous historic homes and buildings by candlelight.
The Beaufort Historical Association’s annual Christmas Candlelight Tour will be held on Saturday, December 14 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The tour showcases Beaufort’s southern hospitality and provides a rare glimpse into several private historic homes, inns, bed & breakfasts, and churches that are decorated for the holiday season.
Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased in advance online by clicking here or by visiting the Beaufort Historic Site Welcome Center at 130 Turner Street. Tickets, tour maps, and information on the homes will also be available the day of in the Welcome Center.
The Christmas Candlelight Tour will give guests the opportunity to stroll through the candlelit streets of historic Beaufort or join the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church carolers aboard our double-decker bus for a free ride to their destination. It will showcase a wide variety of Beaufort’s architectural styles from different periods of the town’s history-making every stop unique from the next.
Earlier that day, The Beaufort Art Walk celebrates the season for its eighth year, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Beaufort Art Walk, held in conjunction with the Christmas Candlelight Tour, will begin at the Mattie King Davis Art Gallery located at the Beaufort Historic Site, 130 Turner Street where art walk maps will be available. The Mattie King Davis Art Gallery will feature artist Ken Moore. Ken Moore is a local North Carolina artist who paints primarily with acrylics on paper, canvas, hardboard and linen attached to aboard. His pieces feature seascapes, landscapes, still life, and flowers. His art is inspired by his time living in Southern New England and his now home, the Crystal Coast. Join us in Beaufort to welcome artist Ken Moore, take a walk around our historic town, and find those perfect holiday gifts at this year’s Beaufort Art Walk.
The Beaufort Historic Site buildings will also be open for free site tours from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Those who want to see and learn more about the history of the town can take a narrated tour on the Double-Decker Bus at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tickets for the bus tour are $12 for adults, $6 for children (6-12), and free for children under five. As a bonus, The Old Beaufort Gift Shop will be hosting a holiday pop-up shop.
