Visit the Mattie King Davis Art Gallery on June 12 from 3 – 6 p.m. for a “drop-by art show” featuring the work of artist Lynda Harris.
Harris is the featured artist of the gallery for June and July. She was also selected as the artist for Old Homes Tour this year. With a constantly evolving style, she strives to paint light with beautiful brushstrokes in each of her paintings. She loves the feeling of putting the paint on the canvas using a “wet in wet” technique and adores layering and creating unusual textures. Her art for this show reflects her new-found love of Beaufort and Eastern North Carolina.
Due to the size of the gallery and current guidelines regarding COVID 19, only 10 people will be allowed in the gallery at a time and we do ask that you wear your face masks. The front main gate off of Turner Street will be the main point of entry for all. While you wait to view the art, shop the Old Beaufort Shop or check out the American Flag Retirement Ceremony taking place on the site grounds by the Old Jail, starting at 5 p.m.
As a special added bonus, the Cru Wine Bar at 120 Turner Street is donating a bottle of wine to anyone who purchases a painting. They will also be offering drink specials during the opening.
