Weaving Demonstration

Join Us For A Weaving Demonstration

As part of the Beaufort Historical Association’s Living History series, Nancy Vaughan will conduct a weaving demonstration Saturday, August 1st from 1:00 – 3:00 pm in the Beaufort Site’s Welcome Center at 130 Turner Street.

Watch as members of the Warped Weavers demonstrate how to weave cloth, like the colonists would have done. Today weaving is completed through automation, but weaving was a man powered process for thousands of years.  Ancient Egyptians are generally credited with inventing the art form and the machine on which it is performed – the loom. Join us this weekend to learn more about the weaving process and life in colonial America.
