June/July Featured Old Home Tour Artist
The Mattie King Davis Art Gallery will welcome talented artist Stephen Moore as the featured artist for the months of June and July
Stephen began learning his techniques at an early age from an apprenticeship with Eleanor Seng, who studied at Wesleyan College in Georgia under Emile Holzhaurer. Mr. Holzhaurer’s teacher was none other than the famous American painter Robert Henri. From an early age, Stephen was taught Robert Henri’s philosophy – fill your work with life. Stephen Moore’s playful colorful interpretations of coastal scenes are one-of-a-kind and leave an impression on those who view his artwork.
Though primarily a landscape painter schooled in plein air techniques, he is also interested in portrait, figurative, and still-life genres. Stephen’s collection will debut during the Old Homes Tour Kickoff Party and can be seen through the month of July at the Mattie King Davis Art Gallery, the oldest gallery in Carteret County showcasing the work of over 100 local and regional artists. The gallery is open from 10 am to 4 pm Monday through Saturday and is located at the Beaufort Historic Site, 130 Turner Street.
The Mattie King Davis Art Gallery, located in the historic Rustell House c.1732 on the Beaufort Historic Site, is the oldest art gallery in Carteret County. Moore’s work will be in the Mattie King Davis Art Gallery through June & July
