Courthouse Drama
Program
Set in the award-winning
Carteret County Courthouse of 1796, this
courthouse drama allows students to get a
firsthand look at what the early Beaufort courts
were like by acting out the roles of characters
from an actual historical court case and
deciding a verdict for themselves. Discussion of
legal points and the outcome of the trial is
facilitated by local attorneys who offer
insights about the modern and historic legal
systems as well as answer students’ questions.
